Looking for an authentic, weathered outdoor metal planter? Start with this bare steel planter and let nature slowly do the rest. Corten steel was originally developed for use in railroad cars. It is considered “weathering steel” and is made of a group of alloys that together have exceptional tensile strength and corrosion-resistant properties. When exposed to the weather, the steel forms a layer of rust on its surface that serves as a protective coating. This controlled corrosion creates the rustic, antiquated appearance for which Corten steel has best become known. The weathering process may take a month or so depending on the elements to which the planter is exposed. Note: Oxidation in Corten steel is typically slow, but some planters exposed to excessive rain or moisture/heat combinations might weather more quickly. Similar to eager gardeners planting bulbs in the fall expecting brilliant colors in the spring, anticipation for the transition from bare steel to a weathered rust-look is part of the natural gardening experience.

Have had these through several seasons and they are holding up nicely.. Joanne. The Colony, TX. Tue Jan 14 2025

This garden raised bed is a great choice for DIY enthusiasts to furnish or decorate their gardens, balconies or patios. Durable material: Corten steel, also known as weathering steel. This is anti-corrosive by its very nature. It develops a rusty protective layer against corrosion when first exposed to atmospheric conditions. Thus, you don't need to paint it. This can help you save on maintenance and repair costs. The distinctive brown colour on the corten steel will surely be an eye-catcher. Finally, weathering steel is exceptionally durable and will stand up to the test of time.Sufficient space: This planter is deep and wide enough to hold a large amount of soil, providing ample space for your plants, vegetables, herbs and flowers.Decorative function: The flower box can hold your favourite plants or flowers, which is ideal for your garden as decoration.Open bottom: Open bottom ensures well water drainage and breathability of plants. Good to know:This product is not rusted yet and has a normal metal colour when you receive it, but rust will develop over time. You could speed up the rusting process by spraying it with soap water and salt water. To keep your clothes stain-free, avoid contact with the developing rust layer. This raised bed does not include a bottom.
