THE FIRST HALF IS HARD TO INSTALL. THE TWO HALVES DIDN'T MATCH UP. MAKE SURE TO DRILL A PILOT HOLE INTO THE MEDALLION AND INTO THE CEILING FULL LENGTH OF THE SCREW. IT IS BEST TO COUNTERSINK THE SCREW AND LEAVE IT IN PLACE. YOU SHOULD CAULK IT AFTERWARDS. ALTHOUGHT THE SECOND HALF IS NOT A PERFECT FIT, ONCE THE FIRST HALF IS IN PLACE, THE SECOND HALF GOES EASIER AND FASTER. MAKE SURE TO BE GENEROUS WITH THE ADHESIVE CAULKING ON THE BACKSIDE. 24" square medallion, it's 3/4" thick. The inner opening for a light fixture base is 8-3/8". This photo shows the medallion just after installation and painting. Before painting I added texture with paintable caulk and let it dry overnight. I wanted it to look like it's been there all along. I attached the medallion to the ceiling using strong glue and a couple of screws, then caulked all the seams. Electricians will do a complete re-wire so the danglers you see are not hot.
