The light itself is great though I didn’t like the off-white color of the “candle” bases so I decided to spray painted them to match the rest of the light. I gave it 3 stars because the directions were misleading and required some problem solving. We also had to buy an extra part in order to actually mount the light to the beam. We have a new build and most of the lighting in halls and foyer is led round/flush ceiling lights. I wanted to add warmth and character to the house. These do that. The description said the drop could be 0”-40”. That is not true. It came with rods you screwed together, the shortest was about 6”. Fortunately, my ceilings are 9 foot. I like them. These lanterns add some glamour to our foyer and I love them. They are as described, so I will still give 5 stars but we wished there was a different length included to hang it- our ceilings are not short (9ft) but the included down rod made them hang too low, so we removed. The item came well packaged it was wrapped in plastic bag and the accessories - the mount plate, extension rods - were wrapped in plastic, too, to protect from scratches. The overall look is even better than the photos. It is made of steel in smooth, matte black finish. This ties in very well for those going for modern, industrial, and even rustic look. The lamp is made of three metal cubes which can be rotated to achieve a more interesting look and visual impact. I can imagine the interesting shadows those frame will add into the room. I am yet to installmount this item. However, this will be a nice addition to the lighting just above a kitchen island. Although I think this be an interesting lighting feature in any room. I took out 1 star because of its price, which I think is too much I had second thoughts on whether I should mount this in the kitchen and get a second one or just find a spot in the house where I can mount it solo and not have to buy a second one.
