You have an on and off switch and you also have three different light settings. If your light is on in your closet and you walk in the sensor will not go off, which is nice. So far the lights are holding strong. I've wired them to remain plugged in all the time which has been more useful to me than the motion sensor capabilities. The main reason for doing this is because the motion sensor light only stays on for 20 seconds and often times will go out even while I'm under it and working on something.
