I really like it because I use faux styrofoam ceiling tiles to cover ugly ceilings after scraping popcorn texture (and to avoid drywall repair and re-texturing). 24" square medallion, it's 3/4" thick. The inner opening for a light fixture base is 8-3/8". This photo shows the medallion just after installation and painting. Before painting I added texture with paintable caulk and let it dry overnight. I wanted it to look like it's been there all along. I attached the medallion to the ceiling using strong glue and a couple of screws, then caulked all the seams. Electricians will do a complete re-wire so the danglers you see are not hot. I purchased this several years ago to use when I had my ceiling fan replaced. When taking down the older fan, it had a wider base and the replacement left a less then pleasing cover. Went looking for something that was lightweight and wouldn't require taking down the newly installed ceiling fan. This medallion fit the bill! Easy to install and fits together nicely.
