I got a long one and coiled the wire plus connection inside the lamp. The lamp does not come with an onoff switch. Youll need to buy either a lamp cord with a switch or only plug it in to a receptacle controlled by a light switch. I bought 2 of these. The bottom post was very cranky about attaching on one and I almost gave up on the other. 3 stars for not being truly plug in ready, for not having an onoff switch, and for the cranky assembly of the bottom decorative post. When we happened upon a breathtaking avant garde Modernist candelabra, we were determined to resurrect it as a chandelier and sconce with electric lamping. The ensuing process was a labor of love, as we sought to establish balance in a purposefully asymmetrical fixture and create the illusion of continuity. Transforming the piece from a sculptural base for wax-and-flame candles to an electric fixture, we continued our brand tradition of keeping the bobeches and making the candle sleeves the same finish as the rest of the piece.
