It works, but you have to be intentional about how you mount it. All three joints move in a single direction, so don’t assume you will have the ability to change the direction later on. I have a similar mount-on-the-wall light which allow for more movement and I somewhat expected that to be a standard. Also, you should plan to use a shorter bulb if you don’t want it sticking out.
