I my installation it provides just enough light for the area but if you need this for bright area lighting you may need to find bright bulbs. This fan is beautiful. The prettiest fan I have bought in years. It even had extra longer blades than the average ceiling fan. The reason I gave it a four star and not five is because of fan speed. I was really excited it had six speeds. Unfortunately having it on the highest speed, six, it only feels like a two on a three speed ceiling fan. After the electricians installed these fans we found out this was not true. The only way to reverse the fan is at the motor and even with a four ft down rod it is 19 ft in the air. Sorry but this fan I returned because the plastic blades looked very tacky. The description says solid wood blades. Also wasn't too happy that the AI didn't understand that I probably shouldn't have been charged return fee because it was falsely described, but I couldn't get "It" to understand that and they continued to send the same directions for return. I paid about $12 to return it, and was hesitantly willing to because I didn't like it that much. They should rewrite the description. I don't return much from Wayfair, but it needed to be done..
