It's a VERY pretty fan. The blades are a very light gray wash look - high end. I got the Nickel finish motor. On/off via light switch and then the remote controls everything. Most fans I run at speed 1 for sleeping and that creates some air movement. But this fan doesn't push a lot of air, so i have to use speed 2 or 3 to get the same effect. This is in a guest room, which is rarely used, so that's fine for my needs. But if you need a fan that REALLY creates a breeze in a room, this is NOT the one. (Minus a star for that).. Tamara954. The item arrived well packaged and installation was relatively easy. The very last part of install was the light and there were two male connections instead of a male female, but just cut the end off and hardwired it not a big deal. We love our new ceiling fan. It was a bit challenging to put it on, took my husband and his dad 2 hours to put it on but they were by no means handy. So far I love these fans. Ordered them together (2) so they would match rooms that are next to each other. The light is bright enough for large rooms, but can be dimmed, It has 6 speeds which is more than my last fans (only had 3), sturdy, so much lighter than my old ones and easy to put together (per hubby). The real wood blades are nice and very light weight. The wind speed works well for our living room and kitchen. Remote is easy to use and I like that there is a timer on the fan also of 1, 4 and 8 hours. There are 3 light settings so you can choose soft, day, and very bright (the bluish type) to fit your room needs. We like the soft one for the living room and the medium one for the kitchen. Recently installed this beautiful fan and I couldnt be happier. The design is stunning and the wood blades give it a high end feel. The overall modern look makes it a true statement piece. Love the shape of the fan blades and the overall contours of the fixture. Operates smoothly and quietly. There are a few things that are worth noting. My particular fan was incredibly off balance and required weight placement to get it mostly balanced. Fans with only three blades tend to do this more than others as there isn’t a direct counterbalance. I also was not able to get the dimming function to work via the remote.
