Assembly is required for this lampshade but it has easy to set up clips on design. Just fit the top and bottom ring into the clips on each long edge of the shade and fasten the hook & loop fastener once assembled use as desired. These lampshades were packed so well that there were no dents or dirt at all. They are a good value, in my opinion. The only thing that I would change is that each shade has a seam in the binding around the bottom edge that is on the front, opposite the vertical shade seam.
