It is hardwired so you will need to do the wiring for it. If you aren't experienced in electrical work, it would be best to get someone else to do it, that is. With that being said, the installation process was quick and easy. The lantern was up in no time and it really looks great!! It's not too big and not too small, it is just the right size for my home. Also, it looks well made and feels very durable and I do see this lasting a good while. A bulb is not included but I had my own so that was no issue for me. When illuminated, it looks so nice. The light shines through the top and the bottom and casts a nice shadow on the siding of the house. I really do love seeing it when I drive up at night. We have replaced one of those factory looking lamps that stuck out of the wall with this one. Love the fact that it is LED. It's very compact and the light is super bright.
