These are large wall sconces. Fit perfectly in our older wall cut out, updated the power switch with a dimmer power switch so can be adjusted at the wall and can be turned off by this switch or the switch at the neck of the sconce lamp. This was nice, however the shade is very thick. A 75 watt bulb provided nice light directly under but the room still seemed dim. This could be both a positive and negative.
