These are large wall sconces. Fit perfectly in our older wall cut out, updated the power switch with a dimmer power switch so can be adjusted at the wall and can be turned off by this switch or the switch at the neck of the sconce lamp. These lamps fit the bill. We attached them to a wood wall headboard and they look really nice. They are a tad blinding when pointed right at your face, but just angle them and it is fine. I love that they glide up against the wall to tuck out of the way. Installation was fairly painless - my husband hardwired them, which does leave a little black hole at the bottom of the back piece, but people are too busy checking out the cool lights to even notice that!.
