The switch is a rotary type. The shades were easy to assemble, but the metal rings are not covered like they would be in a pre-assembled shade. These lamps are small which I wasn’t prepared for because I didn’t read the description as closely as I should have nonetheless, they are adorable and quirky and fun, and I really love them as lamps for my bedroom side tables. As bedroom side tables, I don’t love that the switches are on the cords as that makes them hard to turn off however, I added smart lightbulbs and am able to control them with my smart device.
