Shown in his form as Chaturbhuja Dhari, the one bearing four arms, Lord Ganesha is the embodiment of divine grace in this beautiful sculpture. Carved meticulously out of wood in south Indian temple style, the attention to detail of the artist in this sculpture is remarkable. The Yajnopavita or the sacred thread running across his torso lends an element of purity to his persona. A tiny mushaka or rat can be seen in devotion near his foot. The remover of all obstacles and the bestower of wisdom is depicted seated on a lotus with only one leg on the ground. His posture symbolizes the much-needed balance between the material and the spiritual desires. He is seen holding a noose or a pasha in one of his hands and the other two are in the Abhaya and the Varada mudras which symbolize protection and blessings for his devotees. This beautiful wooden idol is sure to add to the charm of the house it graces and blesses the inhabitants with wisdom and good fortune.
