Came packaged nicely. No real set up just removing some packaging, there was yellow tape with written instructions over these so not hard to know what to do. Quick start instructions, cleaning and extra supplies all included. I am not using it for essential oils but instructions said not to add to the water. I did not look for the oil reservoir and I can’t speak to how it will work. This will definitely help during the winter in our radiator system heated house. This is a very good product because you can run the humidifier for over 24 hours if you only fill it half way up. The colors you can put on for a nightlight are fun for young kids. This does not leave a wet mess from the water coming out of the steam machine. It leaves a very fine mist that doesn't overwhelm the room in hot moisture. The moisture feel is room temp so you will not even notice it. We moved to the high desert from an island and this is helping my family adjust to the dry air here.
