Definitely Earns Its Counter Space!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Frankly, I gave up on toaster ovens quite awhile ago, when I couldn't fit anything in that Frankly, I gave up on toaster ovens quite awhile ago, when I couldn't fit anything in that I actually wanted to eat, and had many burnt fingers to prove it! The Hamilton Beach roll-top toaster oven sure changed my mind about all that! It is roomy, attractive, and offers many cooking options, including toast, bake, and broil. I was disappointed, however, that "my model" did not come with the convection option, since it was listed in the product description I received. For my first venture, I made toast which came out perfectly, and baked eggs with herbs and cheese in ramekins. These came out very well with two eggs in each ramekin, baked at 375 degrees for fifteen minutes, with one turn halfway through. Since the dishes get very hot, in the future I would take them out a minute or two sooner, as they continue to cook while in the hot ramekins. They did slip right out onto the plates with just a light non-stick spray of the dishes before baking. I baked double chocolate cookies and was very pleased with the results. In just ten minutes they came out perfect--moist and chewy, but not undercooked. The baking pan cleaned up easily. Our dinner menu consisted of baked potatoes and small steaks. The large potatoes took an hour at 400 degrees and were well done, but since we like them browned and crispy on the outside, I will push the temp up to 450 for at least part of the baking time next time. The steaks went very well and were perfectly done in just eight minutes. Lastly, I made the Reuben Casserole from the Hamilton Beach toaster oven recipes and it was a huge success. Because neither of us care for thousand island dressing, I substituted cream of mushroom soup and it was delicious. It came out brown and toasty in 40 minutes. I am very impressed with the convenience and versatility of this toaster oven, and I'm definitely convinced it earns its counter space in my kitchen! Things I like: Actually, I LOVE the roll-top door! This is one of those things that screams, "Why didn't somebody think of this before???" It makes it so convenient to reach inside the oven to turn things, or put them in or take them out, and frees up counter space for plates and utensils. The toast option produces perfect toast every time, evenly toasted on both sides without turning. I am so impressed with this function that I am ready to permanently banish the toaster! Bagels went equally well and came out crispy on the outside, while staying nice and soft inside. The oven is so roomy that I am able to fix a realistic amount of food in regular sized dishes, without having to buy and store an entire new set of things. The controls are accurate and easily accessible, and the timer is very accurate and has a nice loud bell. I also like the fact that the timer has a convenient stay-on option. Things I don't like: I was surprised by how hot the outside of the appliance gets, and how much heat it throws. I could not find anything in the instruction manual telling me how far away from anything it should be--just to keep it away from combustibles. I would like some specific guidelines on the amount of room it requires for adequate circulation, and if it could damage walls, backsplashes, counters, etc. The cord comes out of the right back and my outlet is on the left. The cord is long enough, but is difficult to keep from touching the back of the oven. I finally ended up winding it over another appliance to contain it. Not ideal, but does work--better than the twist-tie I first tried which made it clumsy and unsightly. I would also like to see a basic recipe booklet included with the toaster oven. I realize I can go to the internet and download wonderful, gourmet recipes from the Hamilton Beach website (and I do) however, a few basics--a simple bagel recipe, eggs, something other than a frozen pizza would be nice. It would serve as a handy "quick-start guide" and bolster confidence to move on from the basics with great success. And if not that, at least a chart showing approximate cooking times and temperatures for popular foods would be helpful. Liz 17

It's been hard to find a simple replacement for a very old toaster oven, everything else has been too big and too expensive. I have minimal counter space and this fits "just right"...same with the budget. So many similar have a much too large accommodation for pizzas, which I never cook! I like that it has two levels for the rack rather than just one. The crumb tray can be removed to clean, which is much easier than what I previously had. The fact that you have to manipulate all three knobs to set for what you're cooking is a bit cumbersome, but it becomes quicker once you figure out the combos. I'm still perfecting the timing for how I like my toast, but I have figured that you are getting better toasted coverage either toward the back or front...not in the middle if you're only toasting 1-2 pieces. Rebaking some meat pies & pasties and making toast has been the most I've done, but I can tell it will work fine when I move to meats or other "fresh" bakes. The instructions to pre-heat for smell reduction is right on...open your window & follow them...it stinks indeed!! I actually repeated the step and it truly was complete after the first time...the second didn't have the same smell. Oh...and the last happy part is the stainless steel brightens up my counter. My old oven was black and the paint was peeling off of it...dark & ugly. So it just looks so much 'happier' now...and so am I! :)

Versatile appliance in a small unit!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a toaster oven owner for several years, I was excited to see that Hamilton Beach has a toaster oven with convection, bake and broil, but that it also includes an air fryer function! On my bucket list so I ordered it right away. Price is comparable to other units but I wanted the Hamilton Beach and have had them for over 40 years! HB has a great reputation with me! Upon arrival, the outside shipping box was damaged, and the inside box was also damaged. The oven was packed securely in the package. When I pulled the oven out of the box, the racks and pan were shipped in plastic bags inside the box and not the oven. The damaged portion of the boxes was enough force to bend the edge of the baking pan that slides on the guide to insert it. Originally all the racks slid with difficulty but after heating the unit they slide easily. First thing I usually look for on a new kitchen toy is the instruction manual. Hamilton Beach doesn’t have one! It is a map folded type of brochure in different languages. Everything is together one after another. That said, there is bold type to find each category. Each operation of the unit is explained clearly. Again, I wish it was a booklet that is easier to store and use for reference. I will put this in a small zippered plastic storage bag to keep it handy. The unit fits in the same space as my old toaster oven and plugged in quite easily as cord is ample length to safely plug in a convenient place. Next, control knobs…Each is nice, smooth and attached securely. No chance of cutting a finger on any edges. All the markings are easy to see and read, except on the middle knob…which is the temperature knob. At the very bottom is the Toast/Broil selection. The marker stops just before those words. My thought is, is it supposed to? Is it calibrated properly so that all the temp settings are in the correct location on knob? The first knob is the selection of Bake, Broil, Air Fry, Toast, and Convection Bake. That knob when turned clicks on to each selection. Great feature! I am a fan of knobs that turn and not the electronic touch pads. So, this is a plus to me! The third knob is the timer. It works just like a regular little kitchen timer. Turn the knob past 10 and then to the desired cook time. Easy enough! So, after rinsing and drying the racks and pans, I slid them in and out of the unit. They fit snug. Snug means they do not slide out easily. When they heat up, I was certain the expansion will not let me easily slide the rack without using a potholder. Typically, I use a fork to pull it out some. Well, a surprise, the racks slide much easier! Another plus! The first thing I made was toast. Easy enough to set on Toast, light or dark toast. I went with light. So it starts to heat up and there is no illumination inside! It is difficult to see the inside items cooking! Did someone want to cut corners or did they just forget. My prior toaster ovens always had a light. Since I couldn’t see well inside it, the toast burned before the timer went off. Ugh…and that was the light setting. Next time I will try a lighter setting. The next day I made perfect toast!! The next test is dried apple chips. I found an easy recipe online, that suggests baking on 300 degrees to remove excess moisture first before air frying them. I did the 5 minutes preheat as suggested for the oven function. It did warm up and per instructions put the tray under the air fryer basket to catch drips. It got the moisture out of them quickly! Then I switched to air fry to finish them up. Wow! That fan is powerful!! Again I wish it had an interior light to see what is happening so I don’t open up and lose heat. The temp seems a tad high as my chips were ready so quick and didn’t take as long as recipe indicated. This is second thing that cooked really fast. I will need to lower temp when cooking. Again, there needs to be a light inside to be able monitor. I have tried making sweet potato chews for the dog and after 2 batches still need to experiment. They either burn or are undercooked. I had better success in my range oven. I made pork chops…about ¾”thick. Followed directions online…they were a bit crunchy inside but I think that is because they didn’t have enough marbling to make them moist. I will keep experimenting to figure out the air fryer portion. If you need a toaster oven and want the bonus of an air fryer then this is a good purchase for you. If you want it just for the air fryer, I would suggest to check out the individual air fryers, which would be easier to store. Plus: Fits in space of a regular toaster oven, makes great toast and oven heats well. Cons: Needs an interior light!!

High Quality Graphite Grill & Toaster Oven...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the Sengoku graphite grill and toaster oven. Let me start off by saying this is a high quality toaster oven that doesn't disappoint. This toaster oven has a classical retro design and vintage inspired look. It's light weight, small and doesn't take up alot of countertop space. I love the Eggshell color of the toaster oven. This toaster oven does everything I need it to like Grill, Toast, Bake, Roast, Broil, Reheat and also keeps my food warm, what more could I ask for. It evenly cooks food and you don't have to preheat the oven before you use it. Comes with a grill rack, griddle, baking pan and toaster sheet. I kept my pans oiled like the instructions said to do and it kept food from sticking and made it easy to clean up afterwards. I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and it's summertime here. So it's been a great appliance to have that way your not warming up your home using the oven. I've toasted my bread, I cooked a pizza, warmed up my food from a restaurant or fast food inside it. Bread toasted quickly and was crisp on the outside and still soft in the inside. My pizza cooked evenly and it warmed up my food quickly and efficiently. I love how you can cook food while it's still frozen. I've cooked frozen french fries, chicken and a hamburger patty. Plus I broiled biscuits in it. I cut the biscuits in half and added butter, then broiled until crispy around the edges. After it's done you take it out and add jelly or honey. It's absolutely yummy and tasted just like my dads did in a regular oven. The door opens easily and slides out so you can check on your food or flip it over. I like that it stays lit up so you can easily see your food cooking. It also has a bread crumb tray at the bottom, which really helps catch food that falls through while cooking. Clean up was really easy and my food didn't stick on the pans because I kept them oiled. The griddle and baking pan are dishwasher safe. The toaster oven heats up quickly but it also cools down quickly. I can't wait to cook more meals in this and experience everything this product has to offer. So far I haven't found anything negative to say about this product. I definitely recommend this product to others and I hope you love it as much as me and my family do.

Lifesaver appliance!!!
I love this oven, and use it every day. It makes cooking frozen items for my children (pizza, mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets, etc.) a quick 5-10 minute job. I make chicken cutlets, roasted veggies and potatoes, hot dogs, pork chops, etc.--if I can bake it in my regular oven, I can bake it in my Cuisinart. I never pre-heat, and everything comes out as if it cooked 3-4 times as long in the regular oven. I'm not a huge fan of the texture of microwaved food, so I use this oven to reheat everything. It only takes a few minutes to reheat, so everything comes out hot, but not dried out or mushy. I am a huge fan of the bake and convection bake options, and basically use either of those two settings for most everything. I also love that it has a light, so that I can see how brown the food is getting. As much as I love the machine, I give it a 4 star because there are some drawbacks to the machine (and while it looks like a long list of drawbacks, the oven is still totally worth it, in my opinion). When I use convection bake or air fry, I have to pull the machine away from the wall--otherwise the oven will shut off. The timer doesn't seem to be accurate, so there is a learning curve with how long you need to leave your food in for. I generally start cooking with the timer in the center of 0 and 10 (I would think that is 5 minutes, but the timing seems to be off, as well), check for doneness, and then I'll put it back in if it needs more cook time. This is because you cannot turn the timer off, and if the door to the oven is closed and there is still time remaining on the timer, the oven will continue to be on. Therefore, if I have time left on my timer, I have to leave the oven door open until the timer runs out. Not such a big deal, but when I have to pull the unit forward to use the convection bake or air fryer option, the oven door extends over the counter and I have to stand there until the timer is done and watch it so that my son doesn't accidentally walk into the hot oven door (or I could just close the door and let the empty oven continue to cook, but I'm uncomfortable with that, too). The knobs are fragile, and I broke the timer knob within the first two months of regular use, but Cuisinart was amazing about replacing (they replaced the whole unit over a broken knob!). The air fryer function is decent, but not the best. You have to pull the tray completely out, and use tongs or a fork to flip the food (and the food definitely needs to be flipped, otherwise one side will overcook or burn), and the food tastes more baked to me than fried. The air fryer tray underneath the basket gets black with grease that doesn't come off--I assume because the oven gets so hot that it just bakes right on, but it's totally impossible to clean. So I do wish it could be lined with foil or Cuisinart came up with a cooking pad to put in the tray without effecting the air fryer performance. The toaster function is not great either, because toast cooks unevenly if you don't flip it, and who wants to be flipping toast? It's easier to just use a regular toaster in my opinion. BUT, even though this list of drawbacks is pretty darn long, I still love my Cuisinart and would buy it again! As a full time working mother of three, the quick bake and convection bake options are a lifesaver on busy weeknights when we only have 20 minutes between sports and activities to make and eat dinner and get out the door. If I could only have one cooking appliance in my house, this would be it.

I've only had this a few days, purchased in September 2018, but so far I absolutely love it! It was a tossup between this and the breville smart pro, but this costs less, has a larger capacity, and a 3 yr. warranty rather than a 1 yr. I rent and have a terrible oven in my apartment, which is why I got this. I didn't even know I was making lousy toast all this time (in my cheapo 2 slicer), until I made it in this. Medium 4 setting for me, and yes, nice and evenly golden brown on the outside, and not all dried out, but tender on the inside. It was a revelation. I'm going to get fatter, I fear. I also made my favorite DiGiorno pizza on the stone, using the regular pizza setting, and it came out far better than in my regular oven. Then I made a coconut layer cake - something I can't bake successfully in my regular oven - and I did change racks after close to 20 minute. It came out PERFECT. I also reheated the pizza on the preset setting, and that was just right, too. I also made open faced sandwiches with that preset, and they were better than I've ever made before. I'm completely sold on this. I know I sound like an ad, but I can't help it. Having only had it a few days, I don't know about its durability. I already put a coat of clear polish on the buttons because of all the people complaining about the lettering wearing off, so that's a flaw I can live with. If it holds up over time, it will be one of the best kitchen purchases ever. For now, I couldn't be more pleased. Update: I've had this about a year now, using it on an almost daily basis. I'm still very glad I got this. The clear polish on the buttons is still going strong, and it works just as good as it did when first unboxed. I know I have too much free time on my hands to be coming back here, but so what. Here's an update. It's the end of April 2020, and I've used this heavily for about 1 1/2 years. It still works as good as new. No buyer's regret here. One year later, so about 2 1/2 yrs., and this still works like new. Update: 7/29/21. Easy to clean and still looks good. Had it almost 3 yrs. and it still works like new. I use it at least a couple times a week, and it does a great job. I use the pizza stone for homemade pizzas that are much better than anything I can get delivered. I believe it runs about 20 degrees hot, especially on the higher end, from 400 up, but I can live with that. Update with photos: 1/3/22. The last 4 photos are 2022. The initial coat of clear polish has held up remarkably well. The interior is not new looking anymore, but it's had a lot of hard use in the past 3 years. I've never taken the time to try to scrub it clean, and this is how it looks from just a quick wipe down after use. I'm still 100% satisfied with this oven, and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I do wish Wayfair would either answer questions correctly, or allow others to. The first question below: It comes with 2 adjustable oven racks, and a pizza stone, and a broiler/baking pan with removeable broiling tray, and a crumb tray, of course. Next question: I don't know what they're using to measure depth, but I've always thought it was front to back. This is 13", with almost an extra inch for the bump out in back, and 2" for the handle, so 16" tops. Side to side distance is just a hair over 20". Height, just over 11". Other questions: While this is not advertised as an air fryer, air frying is simply fan forced air, and this does have two convection settings. Call it whatever you want, but I "air fry" in mine all the time on speed convection. DO NOT use this in a built in cabinet or shelf unless you want to burn down the house! It gets HOT and needs some space around it. Broil goes to 500, oven to 450, which mine reads anywhere from 470 - 475. I almost never turn it up that high, though. Some of us take time and consideration to properly answer questions and review items. If you don't actually know the answer, it's best to not answer at all instead of writing wrong information as if it's the gospel. Update: 11/15/24. Still working great and used just about every day. The light has gotten a little wonky over 6 years, having to press it a few times. I can live with it. The beeper also isn't as loud or as long as it used to be, but again I don't care. The actual performance is the same as when I got it. I'll keep this until it dies on me and I hope that's not for a long time.

Convenient, efficient cooking
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit surprised by how large this toaster oven was when I took it out of the box. It is large and can hold a good bit of food. I love the pan and the roasting tray that comes with it. I like how the shelves inside can be moved or taken out in order to accommodate larger food items. I have used it to cook egg rolls, french fries, pizza, cookies and some appetizers so far and it has cooked everything perfectly. It did require a quick read of the directions before using it but it was nothing that difficult to understand. I love that it didn't take it very long to preheat and was ready to start cooking in no time. You have to be very careful not to touch the top of the toaster because it is extremely hot. The only real issue that I had with it was the buttons. It is a bit difficult to see the buttons because there is no light behind them. They are small and hard to see. Also, I hate how you can't just hold down the timer or the temperature button and have it advance or decrease quickly like you would with a regular oven or a clock. You have to stand there and push, push, push the button over and over until it gets to the desired time. If you are cooking something for a long time, this is a time-consuming process. The timer is also very low and doesn't have the greatest sound. It literally dings one time and that's it. You pretty much have to be in the room with it to hear it. Other than those minor complaints, I like this oven and feel that it is large enough to cook most foods. The trays that come with it are very helpful and it looks sleek and modern sitting on your countertop.

Perfect size for frozen pizzas!
I bought this just over a year ago. I purchased an extended no-hassle return from the store in case I had problems down the road. Only issue I have encountered in the past 16 months is the red light that indicates it is on and hot no longer works. luckily the convection fan makes a loud enough noise to where someone would know that it is on an extremely hot and won't get burned. But elderly people and very young children may end up being burned by not realizing someone else has turned it on because of the red lights not working anymore. I have had no issues with how it Cooks. I did however have lots of questions because of the lack of instructions that come with this toaster oven. you have to make sure that the crumb tray is underneath the toaster oven in the Small Things lot not inside the cooking area. also the cook a frozen pizza you want the rack on the lowest of the positions inside. Cooking name brand 12 in frozen pizzas in the exact amount of time as the instructions say maybe 5 minutes longer. I do need to rotate the pizza three-quarters of the way through as the pizza will darken in the back of the toaster oven so rotating is necessary one time. I have Cooks breakfast dinner Bagels Pizza cupcakes brownies all turned out excellent. I did have to go online and try to find some cooking instructions because of the lack of paperwork that came with it from Black & Decker. However I am happy with it and I'm pleased with how it Cooks once I figure it out by trial and error cooking positions for the Shelf.

Good, large, works well, but not a convection oven
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so far quite happy with it. I'm disappointed that it isn't a proper convection oven, since it has all the parts to be one, but I knew that when purchasing. It says not to be surprised about fumes or smoking on first use. I assume this is because of the various coatings of parts to make sure they don't get corrosion or the like, so I put it on a table outside and ran it on high for 40 minutes of bake and 40 minutes of broil. It did indeed smell bad each time but has not had a gnarly smell since this initial break-in. The air fryer works well. We filled the basket with chicken nuggets and tater tots and the nuggets were done in about 15 minutes and the tater tots in about 20. The air fryer suggestion chart shows slightly different times, so your particular food choice will of course vary. We did this with the normal rack and drip pan on the lowest rack space and then the air fryer above it, despite that being recommended against, because less cleanup is a good thing, and we wanted to see if it worked fine that way, which it does. This toaster oven is larger than most, which is a lovely feature. Be aware of this though, as it is DEEP compared to a lot of toaster ovens as a result, and you need enough counter space for it without anything touching or too close. The back and the side vent get HOT when baking, and the top gets HOT when broiling. This is normal, but not everybody is used to thinking about that with smaller toaster ovens that aren't generally running for as long. Just be smart and don't touch those parts, nor set papers on it or behind it, and all will be well. The knobs are cheap plastic but should hold up ok. The door mechanism is springy, both to stay closed and open. So, make sure you hang onto it both when you fully open it and fully close it, so it doesn't slam open or closed. The included racks and drip pan and bottom cleaning pan all fit well in ours and seem reasonably sturdy. The air fryer tray did warp a bit after it cooled the first time, but nothing major and it doesn't prevent it from being used. There is a catch on the left-hand side, designed to prevent trays from coming completely out once you slide them in. I'm sure this is considered a feature, but we hate it as we want to just pull out the air fryer rack and serve from there. I'll probably end up removing the clip, but until then, to remove or insert a tray (only in the very middle slot) you need to tip it down into the middle so it'll slide under the hook, then tip it to flat again and slide it the rest of the way. All in all, seems to work well and meets reasonable expectations, so I recommend it. Just make sure you know what you're getting (NOT a convection oven, NOT a variable temperature air fryer).
