We piece together gently rounded squares of acacia wood to form these handsome table mats. The slight variations in tone from square to square add complexity and visual richness to each mat. We couldn’t achieve these subtle tones by intention. Only the natural interaction between wood and dye can obtain this look. The puzzle-like ensemble bends slightly when lifted from the table but lays beautifully flat when supported. The labor to lovingly assemble so many small parts will be lost to us in a generation. Relish this understated beauty while you can.

Coasters are one of those things many people do not think about today but they should. They protect the surface of tables from scratches and ugly stains. When wood tables come into the picture, there is no question that coasters are a must. The condensation from glasses or mugs can do permanent damage to wood surfaces.
