The coffee filter holder stays inside the machine during grinding, preserving more aromas and reducing mechanical movements. It makes very good coffee, but as many have said, the carafe is poorly designed. I got the stainless carafe and it came with a chip in the lining material right under the spout, where the coffee would come out. Also, there always is coffee remaining in the carafe when you think you have poured it all, so you have to take off the lid part and pour the rest out. This is not a deal breaker for me, but the carafe engineers could have done better. Also, you cannot just buy a new carafe from GE, they don't sell it separately. I went to Partstps dotcom and am hopeful that one I order will come without a lining flaw. I have started putting in 2.5 cups of water and brew 3 cups to ensure the water drains out more completely from the inside unit, and I open the reservoir and brewing area after I am done so moisture does not cause an issue. I like having a choice of either the metal filter or paper filters. Regarding the carafe issue, I was able to get credits on my Wayfair account to help offset the cost of a new carafe It was a GE factory error and Wayfair customer service was very good.. Mimi. Sw Va. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pretty excited to get this, especially since it was paired with the nugget ice maker. Set up was easy-peasy. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. It paired right up with the ice maker without issue. The hookups were very obvious. It's got a generous reservoir as well. The coffee maker is pretty straightforward. You fill the reusable pod or you put in a disposable pod. You select the size coffee you want, the type you want, regular bills or iced, and you push the button. BOOM coffee. My only complaint is that it is strictly a single serve coffee maker. I wish it had a carafe feature. Overall this is a great little coffee maker. It pairs so well with the ice maker to make iced coffee. My daughter uses it everyday sometimes twice a day to make iced coffee. It's become a well used appliance in my household.. Jenniferp. Thu Oct 15 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was looking for a way to make cold brew at home and am glad I found this one from Kitchen Aid! One thing i did not realize is that the unit is glass and not plastic, the interior strainer is stainless. I am also glad I went with the larger one as opposed to the smaller one. You cannot go wrong with this!. Rt Builds. Thu Jun 04 2026
