This handmade, handpainted porcelain from Portugal is a bright, clean white with coral flowers and decorations. The mug is quite lightweight and is masterfully crafted to be completely comfortable. The bottom of the mug has a lovely floral design as a nice surprise! The salad bowl is large and easily used for morning cereals or evening soups. The plates are an inch larger than average, making them perfect for generous portions at a family gathering. These dishes are beautiful and seem sturdy and possibly long lasting (I just got them, so time will tell). My one big disappointment is that the salad plate-bowls are 2 primarily red and 2 primarily white for each 4 place settings. In the photos I saw before ordering, I got the impression that the salad plate-bowls were ALL primarily red, which served as a great, eye-pleasing contrast to each place setting. Not so. So when I set the table with the 8 place settings I bought, 4 places will have primarily white salad plate-bowls and 4 places will have primarily white. It will look like I made a weird mistake.
