Linen Single Piece Placemats

This Challah Cover brings a lighter design sensibility to the Shabbat table. The overall look feels modern, graceful, and approachable.

Cotton is the reason a placemat feels like part of the table rather than protection for it: soft enough to lie flat, sturdy enough to take a plate and a glass night after night. Its standard rectangle fits a dinner plate with room left for cutlery on both sides. Lay a full set for dinner or keep a pair out for everyday meals.

Dinner feels different under a cloth, and linen is the one that manages to look relaxed and formal at once. Cut generously, it covers a standard table with enough drop at the sides to fall in soft folds. Machine washable, so a long evening with a bottle of wine stays a good memory rather than a chore.

The placemat is very flimsy! Thin like a napkin. I don’t recommend.. Claudette. US. Thu Jul 25 2024

Every table looks better with a little structure, and a linen mat draws the line between a place setting and the rest of the surface. Machine washable, so spilled wine at dinner is a Tuesday problem rather than a crisis. Set them out for guests, or leave one under a morning cup and a book.

One piece of linen can change a room, which is why this one works as a tablecloth on Sunday and a throw over the sofa arm on Monday. Machine washable, it handles crumbs, spills and the occasional dog. Its generous cut drapes over a table edge with enough fall to look intentional.

Linen has a texture you can read across a room, slightly irregular, a little slubby, and better looking after a few washes. This mat holds a full place setting and softens the sound of plates on a hard table. Use them all the way down for dinner, or one at a time for coffee and the newspaper.

Texture is what linen brings to a table that smooth surfaces miss, and this mat carries it in every thread. Slightly wider than a plate, it gives a setting a defined edge on a bare wood table. Stack a few in a drawer and pull them out when dinner calls for more than a bare table.

Running the length of a table, this linen strip does the job of a full cloth while leaving good wood on show. Machine washable, it takes the traffic of candles, serving dishes and elbows. Layer it under a centerpiece for dinner, or leave it out with a bowl of fruit and call it done.
