Lastra’s design was inspired by the circular wooden slabs used for centuries to create the outer mold in cheesemaking throughout Italy. When fashioned together with twine, the hoop was left with a slight overlap to help maintain the shape of the cheese mold. Maestro molder Stefano Roselli incorporates the overlapping detail into the entire design, from its foot to its rim. A dark dusting on the edges of each piece suggests the ash that was used to preserve these cheeses and highlights each unique silhouette.

I have wanted new dinnerware for a year when I saw this pattern. I didn’t want cups, total waste for me and I wanted the double bowls. These are just fun. I know the color is different for some and I would have liked a tab more green in the tone but it’s impossible to create a color that works for everyone. Very study stoneware plates and bowls. Simple and beautiful design that can be used for normal everyday use as well as dressed up for formal dining. The polished rims really look nice in person and dress up the dish set. Love the “lip” around the edge - allowing better management of the food on the plate from the edge.
