Cast iron absorb heat evenly ensuring water steadily become hot. When tea leaves float in the water. It's gradual, even heating infuses the greatest amount of tea flavor into the water. Cast iron teapots heat up the tea better and retain warmth much more effectively than ceramic. A Cast iron teapot is more durable than a ceramic teapot when properly taken care of. Include a stainless steel infuser basket for loose or tea bags. Do not leave tea or water inside the teapot. Dry thoroughly after each use. NOT recommended for gas stove top use or directly onto fire flame. Recommend adding hot water from your kettle to the teapot.

Description is incorrect: teapot is 16 ounce, Not 20 ounce. Love the style. Am less excited about needing to wipe dry inside and out after each use. Neither downside is a deal-breaker, though.. Antonette. Martinsburg, WV. Fri Nov 21 2025

This teapot is made of high quality ceramic, designed in Japan and made in China.

Similar to the pots used by Meso-American People, our Pre-Columbian Style Tea Pot, or Alcarraza, is a beautiful addition to any La Chamba collection. It stands 10 inches tall, 8.5 inches wide and hold 1.5 qt. Originally these pots were actually used to keep liquids cool. Their design caused the liquids to slowly seep through the clay and slowly evaporated when they were hung in cool drafty shaded spots. The evaporation would actually lower the temperature of the Alcarraza and therefore its contents.
