Our first try into espresso machines and we purchased this casabrews grinder to complete the set. It is nice that you can set your grind perfectly how you like it. The display is responsive and you can easily set it and it saves your preferences for future use. The grinder is not super loud and works well. The included baskets hold the portafilters in the right spot for grounds to drop right into. Is it normal for the machine to heat up when working? Yes, it is normal, the machine is powerful, the speed is fast and the things in the machine collide with each other when the lid is sealed to generate heat. How long is the right time setting for the machine to be used? If you are grinding oily and sugary things, the grinding time should be shorter, usually 10-20 seconds. If it's dry cereals, a minute or so is fine. Please note that the machine cannot grind wet things, only dry things. How do I adjust the coarseness of the ground powder? This is adjusted by the time setting, the shorter the time the coarser the powder, and the longer the time the finer the powder. The drier the solids are, the finer the powder will be, but the effect of grinding fibrous, soft, and oily things like Chinese medicine will be relatively poorer than dry things. What does the protector do? The protector protects the machine automatically when the current is too high. After the power has been tripped, you need to press the protector before the motor is re-energized.
