Perfect farmhouse dinnerware nicely sized, especially the mugs which are nicely weighted and not too large like many mugs are now days. The dishes are a pleasing medium gray color with darker speckles and bronze/brown-colored rims. This dinnerware seems to be of decent quality and does NOT get hot in the microwave. One mug came with a chipped rim, and another had a defect inside; one plate had a deep scratch, so I have requested replacements. I used sandpaper on the unglazed bottoms where they were a little rough, so they won't scratch the other plates when stacking. Hopefully, this set won't have to be babied too much because it is basically what I was looking for and was reasonably priced: $40.00 on sale. These were really attractive with the white rim, and the design was perfect with a lipped edge on the plate, nice size and shape of bowls, perfect size coffee cups. I especially loved the dinner bowls. One plate had a defect and it was quickly and easily replaced, such great customer service. I was so excited - at first! But once we started using them, every piece showed scratches from simply using a fork to gather food, and worse scratches from using a knife to cut food. After 2 months it's beyond any return window, so we donated them and bought better dishes. I don't know if the scratches showed worse because I chose the black, because it was a matte color, or because it was stoneware. I really wanted to love these dishes.. Julie. Eden Prairie, MN.
