The brewing speed and hotplate temperature adjust according to your choice, brewing either amounts to the golden cup standard. The brew basket automatically stops the flow of coffee when removing the carafe. Only I drink coffee at my house so I don't need a coffeemaker large enough to make 8-12 cups of coffee. I was using a Keurig and although it's convenient, the coffee isn't as tasty as it should be (I think the water doesn't get hot enough) and I hated throwing the plastic pods in a landfill. This Zutto coffeemaker came highly rated by Wirecutter so I thought I'd give it a try. I brew the full 5 cup carafe which equals 2.5 mugs of coffee. The brew is hot and takes about 5 minutes to complete. The footprint of this unit is small which is great since I have limited counter space. It uses #2 cone filters.
