We couldn’t achieve these subtle tones by intention. Only the natural interaction between wood and dye can obtain this look. The puzzle-like ensemble bends slightly when lifted from the table but lays beautifully flat when supported. The labor to lovingly assemble so many small parts will be lost to us in a generation.
