When placed into the mouth of a decanter the aerator diffuses the wine as it is poured into the vessel. Wine cascades down the decanter and is effectively aerated. This aerator is inspired by sea creatures and completely made of pewter.

Designs by Erik Magnussen (1940-2014) are in the collection of design museums around the world, a testament to the quality of his work and the high regard with which the international design community holds him. He has designed for some of the greatest names in the industry, including Bing & Grøndahl, Fritz Hansen, Paustian and Royal Copenhagen. His jug for Stelton, designed in 1977, remains a constant in the stable of cult objects requisite in any contemporary interior. The Copenhagen native is the recipient of numerous awards, amongst them Denmark’s Lunning and Furniture Prizes, multiple ID-prizes by the Danish Society of Industrial Design, Germany’s red dot award, and the Good Design Gold Prize awarded by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization. His initial collection for Royal Selangor in 1992 marks some of his earliest forays into pewter.

It is heavier and stronger than spun pewter. When struck gently, it produces a resonant sound.

His late 1890s ornamental borders for The History of Godefrey of Boloyne and The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer by his own Kelmscott Press form the basis of the grape and vine motif in this collection, produced in collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Bacchus was the Roman god of wine and revelry. His face is sculpted on the funnel, crowned with clusters of grapes and his beard tapers down the tip. When wine is poured into the funnel, the wine appears to be blown out by Bacchus to the wall of the decanter. In goes ordinary wine, out comes nectar of the gods' is the mystique behind this funnel where in Ancient Roman times, this god of wine is revered for.

Art, literature and adventure have long had a fascination with Africa, its myriad cultures, the sweep of its cinematic landscape, and its abundant wildlife. Savannah evokes the world of khakis and lavish tented camps of early 20th century luxury travel, with a romantic Art Deco interpretation of the continent’s fauna.

That any pewter of the American colonies has survived is somewhat of a miracle. With no domestic raw material, and forced to send to England for tin at exorbitant cost and unreliable delivery, 17th and 18th century pewterers were restricted to melting worn pieces to cast as new. Despite these trials, fine examples of their craft showcase a quintessential American style resonant to this day. In Liberty, the influence of European forms is undeniable, but it is the unpretentiousness and ease of style that speaks of the character of the New World.

This pourer complements the existing Bacchus funnel, retaining the same motif of intertwining vines and lush grapes. The pourer is shaped like the head of Bacchus, the god of wine and revelry, and comes with a stopper that is also similarly decorated. It comes with a food-grade silicone band that allows the pourer to fit most bottles.

Also known as 'The Butler's Friend', it enables one to remove the cork without damaging it and can also be used to re-cork the bottle. One of the early designs found is from nineteenth century France with a handle and steel prongs. This version is designed with a bright pewter handle and two steel prongs. The handle carries the fluted theme of the range and its fan-like shape makes it easy to grip for better control. The extractor is kept in a pewter sheath to protect the steel prongs and this sheath is perfect for engraving.

This funnel in bright pewter also carries the fluted theme. It is designed with a "soft launch" spout which has five small openings for the wine to pour out of. This is to promote maximum aeration of the wine whilst gently cushioning its descent into the decanter. This prevents the contents from "bruising" and thus altering the quality of the wine.

The shape of the funnel is organic in origin. It is inspired by the shape of fossils and encrustations found in underground caverns. The fountains and spas of ancient Rome inspired the fluid flow formation. The funnel has a false bottom so that when the wine is poured, it will exit through weep holes on the sides of the funnel. As the wine flows down the outside walls of the funnel, it creates a beautiful candy cane effect whilst aerating the wine.

This pewter funnel was flawlessly designed by Erik Magnussen to heighten the enjoyment of wine drinking. The spout of the funnel has four small openings, which allows for maximum aeration thus releasing the full aroma of your wine. A sieve in the funnel separates wine from sediment.
