Cast iron is a great material for mortars and pestles with its density and longevity. The pouring spouts on the XL and L models are great for those wet rubs or marinades.

I use this everyday as I am a spice person. Very nice.. Patricia. Guthrie, OK. Wed Dec 01 2021

Just as described, and works as expected. Arrived quickly. The set is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but I don't consider that a bad thing. The finish is somewhat rough, as with most cast iron items. It needs to be placed on a pad or coaster so it won't scratch countertops. But this rough texture works very well for grinding herbs/seeds. The pre-seasoning seems to wear off a bit on the end of the pestle, but I've been drying it thoroughly and rubbing some oil on it after washing, and so far I haven't had any problems with rust.. The perfect spice mill for making short work of grinding and pulverizing fresh spices, peppers, or anything that needs to be crushed.

So much better than a mortar and pestle!. Michelle. Seattle, WA. Tue Jan 16 2024

I grow raspberries, and I love raspberries, but they have a ton of seeds in them that I don't always enjoy including in things I make. The smallest size pore of this product effectively removes raspberry seeds. I was so happy when I realized it worked so well at that. Raspberry seeds are a real pain, imo. Also has worked wonderfully at removing tomato skins and seeds for me as well.. Sara. Radford, VA. Mon Oct 12 2026

Cast iron is a smart choice for mortars and pestles thanks to its density and longevity.

Exactly what I wanted!. Karen. TN. Tue Nov 19 2024
