Not every recipe feeds eight. The Italian Bakers Small Rectangular Baker earns its space on the shelf for the nights when dinner is for two, for a side dish that should not get lost in a big pan, and for the baked custard or gratin that wants its edges close together. This one is handcrafted of Italian stoneware in Umbria, a central Italian region with a deep-rooted ceramic tradition, with the scalloped rim that runs through the Italian Bakers line. Fired at high temperature, the clay is strong and chip resistant, and the piece is dishwasher, microwave, freezer and oven safe, which makes it as useful for leftovers as it is for baking. Carry it to the table as it is, skip the serving dish, and let the pan be the good-looking thing on the table.
