Italian Bakers Pie Dish

Pie is judged at the crust, and a stoneware dish helps there, holding heat evenly where it matters most at the bottom. This pie dish is handcrafted of Italian stoneware in Umbria, a central Italian region with a long ceramic tradition, from a clay blend fired at higher temperatures for strength, with the scalloped rim that runs through VIETRI's Italian Bakers line and happens to give fluted pastry something to echo. It is oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, so a pie can be assembled and frozen weeks ahead, then baked and brought out as it is. Quiche, galette, deep-dish apple at Thanksgiving: the Italian Bakers Pie Dish handles the sweet and the savory, and it looks like a dish rather than a pan, so it stays on the table instead of going back to the kitchen.
