This floor mattress is pretty comfortable considering it is only 4 and on the floor. It did not come shrink wrapped, but it seemed way too flat at first I let it air out before making a review. At first, it was only 2 inches, but after a few days out of the plastic wrapping it came in, it is decidedly 4. I guess it was flattened during packaging. On the positive side, the packaging was excellent; the rug was easy to unwrap and showed no signs of curling upon being laid out. I originally purchased it for indoor use, but because the coir material is much firmer than I expected, I am relocating to my outdoor terrace. My only significant critique concerns its maintenance. VinTread mats feature 1-inch wide threads with 3/4-inch space between them assembled onto flexible vinyl ribbons for easy roll-up. This is one of the more comfortable mats in our line-up. Product is manufactured in 40' rolls of 2, 3, or 4 foot widths and we cut them to order. Once you get the mat, if it is too big, it is easy to cut down the length of the mat. Soft vinyl ribbons joining the threads are easy to cut through with a utility knife. However if you wish to cut down the width of the mat - this may be a bit of a challenge as you will need to use a saw.
