Decorative functionality at its finest. **Use & Care** Wash Ironwood Gourmet products in warm, soapy water and thoroughly rinse with clean water. Do not soak. To dry, prop up off of the counter to allow all surfaces to air dry evenly. Wood products should never be washed in the dishwasher. After drying, rejuvenate and protect the wood by rubbing it down with Butcher Block Oil. Apply the oil liberally and allow it to soak in thoroughly before use. Regular application of our Butcher Block Oil will prevent cracking and preserve the rich natural colors of the wood.

The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it. Even though I had the measurements - sometimes it is hard to visual what the size will be - it is not as deep (front to back) as I was hoping - the length and height are great. I want to use it to store quilts - like a cedar chest. It won't hold many at all. I do like the look of it. The legs were easy to put on (although the diagram was incorrect on the order of the locking washer and regular washer).
