Our Loredana shelves reclaim the enormous roots from felled teak trees that would otherwise be burned. The shelves are very nice. The only reason I'm giving it a 4-star is because the wrong screws were supplied with the anchors. They were too small and wouldn't hold up the shelf. The rod itself is metal with decorative wood design painted on it. It assembles really easy and the included directions tell you the exact configuration for the size you are trying to achieve.
