This early 20th-century high yoke back armchair has 2 carved circles on the back splat and a dramatic protruding crest rail. The high yoke back armchair was also commonly called "Official Hat Chair" because of its resemblance to the wing-like brimmed government official hat. It will be outstanding as accent chairs in the living room or dining room.

A perfect item for the kitchen or a closet so whether you need to sit and put on your shoes or reach the items on a higher shelf this all-in-one unique item fits the bill and is as decorative as it is functional.

Nice chair/stool. I made a customs cushion for it. It’s exactly what I wanted. It provides additional seating when we have guests, and it’s useful as a step ladder to reach the high shelves in my kitchen. I’d but it again.. Victoria. CA. Mon Aug 25 2025

The dynamic grains and varying tones of teak wood are highlighted in a hand-carved, Mod-inspired Buddha hand counter height stool.

Shipping was efficient, and packaging was beyond expectations. The stools are not terribly comfortable, as the fingers do push into you your back, so you cannot really sit fully back. One of the two purchased had a base that was quite uneven, and pads had to be placed to even it out so the stool would not rock back and forth. It is advertised as 'clear coat flat' finished, which may very well be true, however, the appearance is raw wood. They are quite unique and a great conversation piece.. Anonymous. Wed Aug 09 2023

Hand carved of sustainable acacia wood, our unique stools make great hearth accents and they're practical in the kitchen, wherever you need to access books or other items on high shelves or just to prop up weary feet. Artisans recycle scrap wood for the legs whenever possible.

Absolutely adorable. Excellent craftsmanship. And very sturdy. Anonymous. Sun Apr 05 2026

I love my little chair! I specifically got it for my covered patio and it looks great. It has already gone through freezing temperatures, rain and sleet and still looking like new. I chose the blue and mustard colors and it just pops its low to the ground and very relaxing to sit in. I totally recommend this chair its a great addition for your patio. FYI it says it is indoor and outdoor so you get to choose.. Jessica Yanez. Texas. Thu Jan 29 2026

Make a bold statement with contrasting colors of red and brown streaks atop the natural wood grains, knots, and burls. Place one next to a lounge chair, use it as a sitting stool at an entry, set out a beautiful plant, or display your favorite photos and collectibles. Send a timeless living accessory for a housewarming, birthday, or wedding gift or just because you care. Skilled artisans hand-pick and sand down each slab of wood, preserving the natural shape, wood grain patterns, and color. Each piece of wood undergoes a multi-step process that includes recombination, polishing, painting, waxing, and finishing with a natural lacquer. With an ultra-soft rag, simply dust the surface of the tabletop and legs avoiding vigorous scrubbing as cedar is a softwood and can dent and scratch easily. It is also recommended that a sealer be applied occasionally to retain its color and stability.

Love it. Solid, very natural looking and feeling, and nicely finished. Was looking for an unsual piece. This can be used in many ways.. Marian. Hendersonville, NC. Thu Sep 17 2026

The chair is great, but it is definitely not fully assembled. It is the opposite of fully assembled- it came in about 20 pieces that needed to be put together. Otherwise, it’s a good looking accent piece.. Marissa. NY. Thu Jul 30 2026

This high yoke back armchair is a reproduction of a classical Chinese armchair called the "Officials Hat Chair" designed with the protruding yoke-shaped top rail, which is representative of hats worn by Ming dynasty officials. This beautifully designed armchair is suitable as a stand-alone piece or beautiful as the central focus point of a room when two or more encircle a table.

Bring warm character to the dining room with side chairs that pair sculpted wood curves with an easy, grounded look. Eye-catching from any angle – our armchair combines earthy materials and a bold silhouette that begs to be shown off. The seat rests on a curved teakwood frame, which features a rich brown stain that highlights the wood's natural grain variation. We love how the modern, half-circle arms perfectly contrast clean lines in your living room or office. Try styling this chair with a chunky knit throw and a toss pillow for cozy balance.

These chairs are absolutely beautiful and comfortable as well. They were a little pricier than what I usually pay for changing up a room, but well worth the money they’re beautiful.. Susan. Salem Il. Thu Jun 11 2026

This 19th-century high yoke back armchair has a well-carved Chinese character "Double Happiness" on the back splat and dramatic protruding crest rail. There are some minor restorations done to the joints. The well-aged original finish leaves a beautiful patina all over this rare find. The original paint on the footrest on the lower front is all gone due to over-century usage and is intentionally left untouched. The high yoke back armchair was also commonly called "Official Hat Chair" because of its resemblance to the wing-like brimmed government official hat.

Handy doesn't begin to describe how useful you'll find this 2-in-1 library ladder chair, said to have been originally designed by Benjamin Franklin. Perfect for an apartment or small home, use it as a chair or as a step ladder: simply undo the hinge and flip the seat back over for a sturdy step ladder.

Love my step stool chair! I’m going to buy another one.. Maria. Sun Aug 23 2026
