The trunk is as it looks. Hinges seem strong but even if they weren't, the wood is so light that it wouldn't hurt fingers. If you are looking for a solid piece of furniture, this isn't it. Have built one of two so far. Nice solid wood. Not a huge fan of the plastic inserts twist in design for the construction, but you get what you pay for. There were a few parts that didn’t want to tighten down when it got to the trim. Had a hinge screw head snap off and another strip, but overall happy with it, will see how it holds up.. Kimberly. US. The coffee table came out in perfect shape. I love the color design and drawer handles. I am grateful that Wayfair packed it in a very sturdy package. I purchased 12-34 screws to attach the metal wheels because they provide very thin screws which will not hold the metal wheels.
