These whiskey barrel planters are great. Our family has had three more just like them for 16 years. One is used as a small water feature with a bamboo fountain and the other two as traditional planters. Because of the size and material the soil does not dry out too quickly. For these two new ones, I've converted them into self-watering planters using sturdy 22 inch saucers and 1/2 inch solid-braid nylon rope for wicking the water up into the soil. At 20 inches Diameter x 18 inches High Made from wild jungle mango wood. Most mango wood comes from fruit-bearing mango trees that are past their prime producing period and as such are limited to smaller diameters. While mango trees that grow wild in the jungle reach much larger sizes while not bearing much edible fruit. To make the Mocha look we coat first with Cherry Oil which has reddish tones and then a top coat of black oil. Since the oils are transparent the first coat of oil allows the browns to show through but gives it a richer brown with red tones. The Black oil then gives it that mocha look. *Please Note* There will be various separations or cracks and color will vary from the pictures depicted for every single piece. No two pieces will match. *YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE PIECE PICTURED. AS THAT IS JUST A REPRESENTATION OF THE DESIGN AND FINISH TONE. These unique split wine barrels are wonderful as indoor decoration stands and outdoor planters. It saves space when used in the corners of your home, yet provides a large planting area. We use authentic oak wood wine barrels with good quality and value in mind. The wine barrels are well-built and wrapped with three galvanized steel bands to prevent rust. If you plan to use the wine barrels for planting, then drainage holes are needed, so excess water can drain out to prevent drowning and killing the plants. Color may vary due to the reclaimed material used. Gloss lacquer finish.

I just received my Lacquer Finished oakwood Split Wine Barrel Planters, this morning, delivered by FEDEX ground delivery service. They did send me the other barrel planters with the galvanized barrel hoops instead of the barrels with the black hoops but, not an issue. These ones are equally as nice. They are well built and they should last a long time. When I was ordering them I thought that they came with drainage holes already drilled into the bottom of the planters but, I will have to drill some holes, myself. I am handy with a drill so, again, not an issue. These barrels do have some weight to them so it takes a bit to move them around. I use to be able to lift 80 lbs. square haybales but, I must be getting old because these barrels feel like they are heavier then the 65 lbs. indicated in the description and specifications of the barrels so I'll just use by garden cart to move them to where they have to go. With their look, these barrels are going to add that little extra something to the look of my garden and they are going to look even nicer with the plants that I add to them this spring. I was thinking, as well, that if anyone does a lot of family get togethers or gets together with friends out at the lake or elsewhere during the summer months, if they drill a few drainage holes in the bottom of these barrel planters, they can fill the planters up with crushed ice and use the barrel planters just like a cooler to keep their canned and bottled drinks cold especially if they are entertaining a big crowd..
