I have been looking for just the right pieces to enhance the area over my mantel and these fit the bill. Installation entails using two screws to apply a plate which the lights fit over. It took around four hours to charge them initially; I can't speak to how well they hold a charge as we didn't really purchase them for extra light. Charging is as easy as charging your phone and they come with two charge cords. They do have dimmers and a remote. Only reason for 4 stars is that the “white light” option is too bright white/ cool in color for my liking. If it were a warm white I would be totally in love with these sconces! Remote works well. These are really nice sconces! They look high end, but are rechargeable so no hardwiring required! I did deduct a star because the shades arrived damaged. Besides the shade damage I would completely get them again! Love that the bulbs look like bulbs (and are so easy to recharge)! This wall sconce has all of the bells and whistles included. First of all it is not hardwired so no special skills needed for installation, almost anyone can just hang it. It is rechargeable so no pricey batteries to replace either. Depending on the brightness you prefer you will get 10 to 40 hours of use in one charge. You do need to supply 2 AAA batteries for the remote though. You can just touch the top of the shade to manually control the light or use the remote. There are 3 different light temperatures to suit your preference and within those you may choose brightness as well. I like the nightlight button on the remote to really dim it down. In addition this can be set to turn off at 30, 60, or 120 minutes using the remote. It is the perfect lighting for a dark corner in my office. Wherever you don't have space for a lamp this is ideal. It is decorative and functional.. The shade can be ordered in smooth or pleated and is not fabric. The base is black metal and the shade is black plastic material so I can easily wipe it clean.
