It’s made from sturdy, pre-stained cedar wood that’s naturally resistant to weather, fading, and rot for long-lasting outdoor use. The framed plank design adds structure, while the open-top box shape gives plants space to grow. I am OBSESSED with these! I've loved window boxes since living in Germany in the 1990s but always had a hard time finding ones to fit my deck railings. I've done the wire holder with plastic box and they just looked blah. These look amazing! I can't wait until the grass grows tall and petunias and sweet potato vines spill over. I ended up also buying the supporting deck railing brackets because I worried about the composite balusters not being able to support such a heavy box when weighted with wet soil.. Maria. MA. Outstanding! When we took our box to the greenhouse business to select plants they flat out said Beautiful. You will need to stain to the color of your choice. Additionally put brackets underneath to support weight. Yes a bit of work for full effect .. Mary. Hornell, NY. Fri Jun 07 2024

When using outdoors, before planting, invert the container and remove the rubber stopper. Store the rubber stopper in a safe place to use at the end of the growing season. Removing the stopper will allow water to properly drain from the Countryside planter. For additional soil aeration, add a soil amendment such as perlite, small stones, or clay pieces to the bottom—and up to 1/3—of the container.

I’ve always wanted window planters, but they were too expensive! These are very sturdy at a reasonable price and fit on my windowsills perfectly! I love them. Nancy. Tucson, AZ. Sun Mar 23 2025

This window box planter makes a beautiful adornment for a mission or craftsman style home. The stylized tulip motif and hammered texture is classic for an era that revered a hand-wrought look in home accents. Inside the metal, the bracket is a tapered solid copper flower box of generous proportions. The satin copper surface will develop a beautiful natural copper patina over time, in contrast with the black frame. Two matching wrought iron support brackets are provided for mounting the window box planter, allowing it to be easily planted, removed, and stored each season.

Solid product BUT significant defect is NO DRAINAGE HOLES. Without them, expect anything planted to sit in soggy roil and rot. Had to buy drill bit and drill it out myself. I used Vulcan brand #028365, which is a 7/16” bit (just shy of 1/2 inch), the largest bit that will fit on a standard drill. Any hole smaller will clog readily and be useless. This is an inexpensive home-user brand readily available at many hardware stores. “Speed steel with a 135 deg split point eliminates the need for center punch and keeps drill from skating on hard surfaces.” Recommended for metals, but package also states plastics. You want the split point to keep the drill from skidding on slick plastic surface. Pain in the neck, though. Why does anyone make a planter without drainage!! I drilled four holes in each of the three bottom compartments - see photo.. Jane. Studio City, CA. Wed Apr 29 2026
