This nativity set is lovely! I didn't realize there were so many pieces. We purchased it for our grandson, but will most likely keep it at our home for now. The resin material was a little sticky coming out of the plastic, but I wiped it and it's fine. There is a lot of detail and many animals which really caught his attention. I wanted this prayer figure to be a humble piece, but very centering, calming, peaceful… with a universal gesture of meditative thought. The surface is carved with texture and patterns of living natural forms. Even though this is a quiet piece, I wanted the imagery to be very alive with movement – to have an inner energy of life.

The gentle animals of the stable fit perfectly with Mary and Joseph on the base of the sanctuary.

Hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone, this creche nativity scene depicts Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph set under a Christmas tree. A hand-carved piece of art from the Kisii region of Kenya is a real treasure. The soapstone from the Tabaka Hills come in a range of colors from white to pink to gray. As it is crafted, it goes through multiple stages of sanding and waxing which gives the soapstone a satiny finish. This is a small piece of art- Great gift for the nativity collector or wedding gift. Product Features: Measures Approximately: 5 x 6 1/2 inches. Due to the handmade nature, actual size of each piece will vary slightly. Soapstone is a soft stone, making it easy to carve into many forms. Handle with care to avoid breakage.
