My granddaughter asks that everything be purple, so I got this for her. From looking at the picture, I thought that it would be stiff, and the gold-colored section might be scratchy. But I was wrong. The pillow is velvety smooth and feels the same all over. If you're into geology, you will understand why it is called “geode". (That makes for a great teaching tool for granddaughters, by the way.) There is an invisible zipper, which is always appreciated, so that the pillow cover can be removed and washed. This is a rug that fills a room with light. Across a soft parchment and silver-grey ground an all-over botanical repeat unfolds without pause � acanthus leaves open-faced blooms climbing vines and nodding floral heads layered so densely that the eye travels continuously finding new detail at every turn. There is no central medallion here no dominant focal point. The design simply breathes edge to edge in the unhurried rhythm of a walled garden in full growth. The palette is built around cornflower and periwinkle blue foliage clusters that anchor the composition balanced by warm terracotta and coral blooms scattered through the field like embers in the greenery. Sage and olive greens carry the stems and leaves while touches of blush pink and soft gold catch the eye in the quieter corners. The overall effect is cool but not cold � a palette that shifts and warms depending on the light in the room. The border is intentionally understated: a narrow ivory frame with a delicate botanical frieze in the same muted tones wide enough to contain the field without competing with it. The rug's scale does the rest. Worked in LoomBloom's loop-and-cut pile technique using high-twist wool the dense all-over repeat is rendered with the clarity that only hand-hooking can achieve. It sheds significantly less than comparable pieces and holds its surface over years of daily use.Some designs were never meant to stay flat on a wall. William Morris spent his life drawing the natural world � its tangled branches its bold blooms its birds caught mid-flight � with a devotion that went far beyond decoration. Where Morris worked in ink and dye on flat cloth our artisans work in three dimensions varying the cut and loop across each design zone so that petals sit differently from leaves and stems read differently from grounds. The result is a surface with genuine depth � one that shifts as light moves across it through the day. The collection spans seven colorways � from a near-black garden dense with forest greens and coral roses to an airy antique-white field scattered with powder-blue birds and terracotta blooms. Innovative Loop & Cut Pile Technique - Unlike machine-tufted rugs where pile height is uniform and anonymous LoomBloom's artisans vary the loop-to-cut ratio across each design zone. Pretty pillow, especially if you are a fan of William Morris and tapestry-style fabric. But the filler pillow was quite pitifully flat. I bought two, and neither filler pillow filled out the cover nicely. I decided to keep because I had old filler pillows that I could stuff inside. But really, just sell me the cover if I have to provide my own filler. A pillow is supposed to be fluffy and well … pillowy. This was a sad and sorry filler.
