I want the lamp for on a table at the end of my couch, but the bottom of the shade is so low (only a few inches above the table) that I wouldn’t really get any useable light. Got 2 of these in black for my nightstands. Love the pull chains and the inside of the shade is gold so that helps illuminate as well. I read a review that said it didnt put out much light. With Led light bulbs, that is completely in your control. I choose to put in the 3500 Daylight color but may actually step it down to 3000 or 2700. The gold shade takes that cooler brighter light and warms it up. This lamp is heavily textured like stucco so if your looking for something smooth, this is not for you! Quality materials, and craftsman, and heavier weight. I just cant believe you have to spend 300. I returned the 239 black metal lamp with a travertine stone base because it was not quality.
