This has been a great addition to our cats’ furniture collection! The smalleryounger cat loves to sleep on the flower on top, which is made of something like memory foam, but a bit denser. I imagine it is somewhat self-heating and also helps to hold onto the heat from the window. My largest cat loves the middle level basket. She will curl up in it for hours and has since I took it out of the box. Her sister is terrified of the entire thing and avoids even being near it. I have no idea why. I picked it because it had 3 levels, and they are always together, but it has not appealed to her yet. This is a cute little scratching post, but I was expecting it to be a bit larger. It is sturdy enough that I don’t believe my cat will be able to knock it over while playing or sharpening her claws. One thing I’m not crazy about is the sisal being on the bottom of the post. It is quite thin and looks like the old school yarn they would give you in an eighth grade Home Ec class. As long as it stays attached and doesn’t fray too quickly I’m OK with it. I like the texture of the cactus, (if you will), and the fact that it’s rubbery and flexible. My cat has already owned it. She walked right up and put her scent all over it. The scratching post came quickly and was delivered at my home, not in its usual place and with a few dents in the box but overall handled professionally. This cat tree is sturdy! It was easy to assemble, besides initially lining up the base to the first post. I used the included wrench to "poke through" the holes to help line them up. It is a beautiful kitty tree. It is indeed not 'paded' at the top (besides rim), but seems soft enough for my kitty. My cat is too big to get on by himself (not as much space between basket bed and top of tree), but he doesn't mind, and spends hours on it after I place him there, lol.
