Great a little small than I thought. Doug. Dashwood Ontario, ON. Fri Sep 11 2026

Brabantia’s NewIcon step can, 7.9 gallons (30L) has an iconic design and is a reliable worker too. Sturdy, and always stands strong because of its non-slip base and anti-tilting block. Thanks to the unique soft-closure feature, it closes smoothly. And of course, this NewIcon step trash can is hygienic, odor-proof, easy to open, and clean. Perfect for your kitchen or any other room that could use 8 gallons of timeless design.

I searched carefully for a trashcan that would both look good in the kitchen and be the right size for a small household (1- 2 people). This one is perfect. I chose platinum because I didn’t want it to be too shiny. It’s tall enough (26 inches) to hold a 13 gal., tall kitchen trash bag, but narrow enough (11.5 inch diameter) that I can still open my cabinets. (See photos.) The capacity is only 8 gallons, but if the bag has a drawstring, it’s easy to make a 13-gal. gal bag fit well. It comes with three 8-gal. bags, but I like to use bigger bags so that I can add other trash to it before I take it out.. Dee. IL. Thu Jul 02 2026

We are obsessed with this trash can! So easy, so functional, and really pretty too. The only thing, and almost worth a star, is that we don’t understand why the back isn’t fully flat. The battery of the lid juts out in back, and there is all this extra space behind where the bag and inner compartment rests. Even if the battery pack needs to jut out, they could still easily shave an inch off the depth of this given all the extra space, which would make this even more attractive and perfect. We love it though, just be prepared to know it doesn’t sit fully flush against its backside. If they “fixed” this design element, we’d 100 go buy that model immediately and give it six stars.. Nina. This is a nice and large garbage can. It arrived with a bit of discoloration on the front. It’s hard to tell in the picture but it’s a lighter black in the front toward the lid. It opens and closes slowly which is great. I really like that the lid has 3 bar mechanisms that lift the lid making it more secure and hopefully it will last longer. Our last one only had 1 bar mechanism in the lid and it broke quickly. It comes with wheels but we choose not to use them.. Stephanie. West Harrison, IN. Sun Sep 13 2026
