Water Bell Fountain

Bells have been used throughout the ages to accompany dance, to provide comfort, and to warn of possible danger. The Chinese were the first to control the pitch or note of a bell, making it possible for them to play tunes. Soon bells were being used to accompany worship. On New Year's Eve, the bells in Buddhist temples are rung 108 times, once for each of the 108 worldly desires. In the East bells have become very important and are often decorated with significant symbols. For centuries, tuned bells have been suspended in homes and temples to ward off evil and attract good luck and prosperity. These ancient bells inspire Woodstock Temple Bells and work harmoniously with the wind to create gentle, soothing tones. In 1979, Grammy(R) Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th-century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The Chimes of Olympos was the first of Woodstock Chimes Wind Chimes and is still one of our best-selling, musically-tuned windchimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Chimes in 1979 and remain based in New York’s Hudson Valley.

UPDATE it is now 25MAY 2026 and I decided to get my water bell feature from out of the garage and give it a go again. I had to replace the pump. To my surprise, once I hooked it up, it works perfectly! I’m happy that I tried it again. Thank you! A few months ago, I was at a salt room and I was introduced to a water bell fountain and I fell in love with it. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was very old (and not for sale). I wanted one so I searched the internet and found this one and purchased it. I’ve had it set up for awhile now and to my disappointment…no bell ringing. Just got my fountain today. It came faster than I thought it would come. The craftmanship of the fairy and the color of all of it far exceeds the picture. Cute fountain, a bit shorter than I realized. Had some blemishes in the glazing where it looks like someone applied a different material to fix it? The instructions didn’t include a great diagram of the part labeled “leak protector” so I had to find an online instruction manual for a similar fountain from the same company, which used the same part. The pump was a bit unwieldy to position. So far it’s a pleasant sound of water, no drips. Not sure if any birds will use it, I was hoping the sphere on top would attract hummingbirds to bathe. This fountain is very easy to assemble, producing a soft bubbling sound that cannot be heard at a distance, and little to minimal splash. This fountain has heavy components and may require lifting assistance.
