When I first purchased it for a pole I already have, I was concerned that the square base was the only option. I was wrong. You have the OPTION of square or round bases! I even took it to the pole and ensured it fit. Installation looks quite easy (the problem is the base of the pole on the snow covered ground, we have to wait until spring. But I am incredibly excited to see this assembled on the pole, and working in the yard. It will be a nice improvement to our exterior lighting in a subdivision that doesn't have any street lights..
