For the money it’s a very good desk. I was a little disappointed to see that the top came in two pieces, this is not noted in the description. The separation runs the full width of the desk. It joins together, just like a table that has a leaf, it’s secured from underneath, so it will not separate. There was some damage that I plan on having repaired with the credit that Wayfair issued. This is a stunning, substantial piece for my townhome's office/den. I love the black iron bar that runs through it. Great material and color juxtaposition to the solid wood. The bar is both stylish and functional as a foot rest. No ottoman needed! One caution - the walnut is much more light cherry-ish than medium brownish walnut wood, so it hardly looks like the product photo, but thankfully it still comes across as modern, as I didn't want a traditional-looking desk.
