The shelf itself is beautiful. The wood has a rich finish, the craftsmanship feels solid, and it looks great once it’s up. Unfortunately, the hanging hardware is the problem. The shelf uses a cleat-style mounting system, but the included anchors do not hold securely in the wall. Because of that, the shelf slopes forward, which makes it hard to actually use because I don’t feel comfortable placing items on it. Replacing the anchors and screws also is not as simple as a quick swap, since the replacement pieces need to work with the existing cleat-style hardware. I’m concerned about finding something that fits properly and holds securely. Overall, the shelf is very attractive and the wood is beautiful, but the included mounting hardware really affects the functionality. I would recommend it for the look and quality of the shelf itself, but I’d suggest being prepared to replace or upgrade the hanging hardware before relying on it to hold anything.. Janell. I needed a very specific minimalist shelf to display a sculpture I purchased. I wanted a true floating shelf, but the weight capacity of the shelves I was considering gave me pause. So, I purchased this one, which as other reviewers have noted is not a true "floating shelf" due to the exposed pipe brackets, and I am not disappointed. The extra support that the brackets provide gives me peace of mind for the art piece that is displayed on the shelf, and the industrial look in black finish ties in to some of the hardware on our barn door (also purchased from Wayfair). The instruction booklet is very easy to understand, "dumbed-down" for someone not gadget-y.
