These chairs are compact but sturdy. I love the Mid Century Modern look to them. Unboxing was a bit frustrating—the Styrofoam crumbled everywhere, creating quite a mess, and the screws were taped to it, which made cleanup even more difficult when removing them. During assembly, pieces F and G (the lower cross bracing) were especially tricky to align, and many of the screws didn’t line up easily with the predrilled holes. Step 10 was particularly challenging, as there were no predrilled holes for those screws, making installation much harder than expected. The chairs required installation and I had a heck of a time getting the plastic (usually wood) dowels into the holes! This is embarrassing to say, but I literally put them in the freezer for awhile and then used a hammer to get them placed in the dowel hole, otherwise I couldn't get them in. Once I figured that out, it went fairly smoothly and for 2 chairs, it took me ~20 min. The color matches my walnut dining table well. They are comfortable and modern. Ordered two of these individual chairs to complete the set of 4 I got with my extendable table. We didn’t put together the first four (assembly was complimentary with that order) so this was my first time putting them together. Pretty easy and didn’t have much trouble. Love these chairs. They seat is very wide and comfortable. The cross cross back is just the look I was going for. Note that with the matching table, you can’t fit all six chairs under the table. Since our toddler usually sits at the end and likes to get in and out of his seat often during a meal, his chair is usually always pushed out anyway, so this doesn’t bother me, but worth noting. The seat cushions are ones I found at a yard sale so not the right size but good enough for now. The chairs are sturdy and this set overall is the perfect blend of casualfarmhouse without being *too* rustic. These chairs are comfy dining chairs. The mix of fabric and color elevate the look of these chairs and work well in our small space. They arrived pretty quickly but the assembly was a bit tricky.
