It took longer than expected to receive the countertop but it arrived in immaculate condition and looks amazing. I put on 3 thin coats of wipe-on water based satin polyurethane to protect it and sanded lightly with steel wool in between coats. The polyurethane really brought out the color without adding too much sheen - it is gorgeous. I know there were some unfavorable reviews for this countertop but I recommend it highly.. Terrell. These Hevea butcher block countertops were just what I wanted for my new office. They were well packaged and arrived without damage. A few coats of matte poly were easy to apply. If you try to buy this direct the shipping costs are outrageous. Just get it from Wayfair as it ships 10x faster and is actually cheaper when you account for the shipping costs of company direct. I was specifically looking for a 24” x 24” square table for my small apartment, and this worked perfectly for creating a small dining area. The top feels solid, and I paired it with a table base from another seller since this is just the tabletop. The finish wasn’t quite what I expected, but it’s still nice overall. Also worth noting that only one side is finished—the bottom is unfinished. Mine looks similar to the darker wood shown in the first two photos.
